Terry Flynn of Faherty Group
What is your role at Faherty?
Founder and President. I sell most new business, perform day to day administrative functions, and do some of the recruiting. But my most important function is to create an entrepreneurial environment that is flexible and lucrative enough to attract and retain the best recruiters in our niche practices.
What's the first thing you do when you get to the office?
I take ten minutes to relax, pray, and visualize the outcome that I hope to experience on that day.
What do you feel are the most challenging aspects of your job?
The Chicago Staffing business is extremely fragmented. It is said to be the largest staffing market in the world, yet even the largest companies' hold market shares less than three percent. This means prospective clients are bombarded with sales and marketing messages. My greatest challenge is to establish a true differentiator and then get this differentiator message out to the marketplace.
What do you like best about working with TribeAgency?
I feel that I can totally trust them to handle all my web activities, and to do so with great vigor. I would get buried if I handled this critical aspect of my business.
What do you feel are the benefits of working with TribeAgency over other Agencies?
The Faherty Group is a small firm, with big plans. TribeAgency said, Lets get you big, quick others left me feeling rather unimportant. More like, "Call us when you get bigger."
Who is someone you have looked to as a role model?
Warren Buffet - everything he is involved with is for real. Everything he say's is honest.
What is your most frustrating pet peeve?
People who have short fuses. Toxic attitudes.
If you could live in any era in the past, when would you live?
The Fifties.
What is your favorite non-work activity?
A weekend at the beach in Harbor Country, MI
If you could be in any other career, what would it be, and why?
Developer - I love architecture, community revitalization, and transforming under-utilized land. Trouble is that I would want to keep everything I built.
What famous or historically significant person would you most like to meet?
John F. Kennedy.
If you were ruler of the world for a day, what would you do?
I would create a minimum standard of acceptable living conditions, and then I would put Warren Buffet in charge of figuring out how to make the world economy piece things together. Make it work financially on some level for everyone.
